JAK Hanson Shopping Outlet has grown from a small family business into the much-loved retail destination it is today. Based at Derby House, Wrightington, the business has built its reputation on great value, friendly service and a constantly evolving mix of brands, gifts, homeware, toys and more. Conveniently located just off Junction 27 of the M6, JAK Hanson has become a popular shopping destination for visitors from Wigan, Chorley, Preston, Lancashire and beyond. The story began in 2008 when the business traded as Kiddiroo, an online retailer specialising in children’s toys that were a little different from the norm. As the business grew, it moved into its first shop in 2011 before relocating again in 2012 to larger premises in Tarleton. JAK Hanson opened at Derby House, Wrightington in September 2013. The name comes from the business founders — Jane, Andrew and Kirsty — while “Hanson” was the surname of Jane and Andrew’s grandmother, whose love of a bargain made the name especially fitting for the business. What began with a focus on children’s toys soon expanded into a much broader shopping offer. Over the years, JAK Hanson has developed into the varied retail outlet visitors know today, offering a wide mix of brands, departments and independent businesses in a friendly and welcoming environment. In 2024, Jane left the business, and JAK Hanson is now run by Andrew and Kirsty, who remain committed to growing the business and continuing to offer customers great brands, great value and a warm, personal shopping experience. From its beginnings as a specialist toy retailer to the destination store it is today, JAK Hanson continues to grow while staying true to its family-run roots.
